When you make an exposure, make sure you’re able to make the exposure you need with the tiles on your slope and the claimed discard. Confirm it’s correct (look at your card and confirm you need a kong and not a pung) before you discard or do a joker swap. You’ve got this.

This May, we’re offering a 4-week Mahjong Residency designed to take you from total beginner to confident player—surrounded by good people, good vibes, and a whole lot of tiles.

Our first two events sold out in under 24 hours. This is our third and final Card event of the year. You want in? Register. We’d love to have you.

Apparently you all wanna get into the weeds on the new Card as much as we do. We love this and we love you. Our Saturday event sold out in less than 24 hours, so we made a Sunday event. Get yourself registered cuz, if nothing else, a lot of your open play opponents are gonna be in on the secrets and you don’t wanna be left behind. As you all probably know, the 2026 NMJL Card is due to ship early April. Claire, Tara, and Mel… aka two mahj nerds & one actuary are presenting a morning event where we’ll talk the new Card and get you feeling confident and ready to play, a step or two ahead of others right out of the gate. We’ll talk the tiles that show up the most (and least), confusing hands, and ways to pivot during gameplay. Then, we’ll do a Q&A and finish with an open play so everyone can give the new Card a whirl. All tickets include drinks, pastries, and a Larissa Loden shopping discount.

Felix & @clairevjjoseph are back at it, testing the readability of a new set of tiles (to them)—the Commuter Confetti Tiles from @mahjpit.co. Like always, we tested 10 tiles—one numerical tile from each suit, a flower, all 3 dragons, a wind, the one bam, and a joker. Felix scored 9/10, but his error was mixing up a north for a west. For a kid who doesn’t know how to read, that was quite good. Consider these tiles easy to read, approachable for any group, and also very fun. SAINTCITYMAHJ will save you 10% at the Mahj Pit shop.

Sometimes, things work out really nicely.

If you aren’t going to win this round, a wall game is your best outcome!
